Anthony is a graduate research assistant for the National Center for Asphalt Technology (NCAT) and a PhD civil engineering student at Auburn University (Pavements and materials program). He works under the supervision of Dr. Adriana Vargas. Anthony received his Licentiate degree in Construction Engineering from the Instituto Tecnológico de Costa Rica (ITCR) and his master's degree from Auburn University.
His research interests include pavement preservation and management, pavement design, innovative applications in the pavement industry, and data analysis. Anthony has been part of the NCAT Pavement Preservation Group since 2020, participating in various activities such as field condition assessment, construction, performance monitoring, and data analysis to quantify the life-extending benefits of pavement preservation treatments on full-scale projects. Additionally, during the 2021 NCAT Test Track paving cycle, he worked on the Continuous Asphalt Mixture Compaction Assessment using Density Profiling System (DPS) project.
Anthony has also been involved in teaching activities. He served as a teaching assistant for the Construction Engineering Hydraulic Laboratory course at ITCR for two years and currently works as a teaching assistant for the Civil Engineering Materials course at Auburn University.
As a personal interest, Anthony is passionate about data analytics and programming. He completed his Business and Data Analytics graduate certificate at Harbert College of Business at Auburn University.
In his free time, he enjoys practicing sports such as running, soccer, pickleball, and cycling.
